The mission of Beacon Performing Arts is to provide a safe place for actors to to cultivate artistic skills, and perform them in excellence to be shining light to the community and those who attend.
GOALS
1. To teach youth and adults theatrical skills, so that they can share their gifts in a way that glorifies God in excellence on and off stage.
2. Provide a beacon, or safe place, for youth and adults to come and learn theatre, without the agendas of the world.
3. Provide a place where relationships can be fostered, with your classmates, cast/crew, and your personal relationship with God.
4. Provide high quality entertainment to the community, without compromising our morals and ethics.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Beacon Performing Arts frequently has prayer time, bible references and worship before/during/after classes and productions. Our creative team members desire to show the love of God in everything we do. You do no have to have the same beliefs as we do, as EVERYONE IS WELCOME AND LOVED. Beacon Performing Arts is determined to provide a safe environment for our youth, adults, volunteers, staff and patrons. To ensure that safety, we expect everyone to act in a way that respects the dignity of others. We reserve the right to dismiss anyone that we feel is not operating as such.
Classes, Dress Rehearsals, and Performances are for cast, crew, and volunteers only. Unless teaching classes or part of the production, parents are not permitted in class/rehearsals, but may sit in the lobby. We do our best to protect the youth, therefore anyone over the age of 18 that will interact with youth, must pass a background check. Anyone without a background check will not be permitted in any area with a child, this includes backstage during performances.
Beacon Performing Arts reserves the right to determine who is or is not suitable for our programs/classes and will take all measures to provide a safe place for our actors.
PROHIBITED
We believe firmly in “grace” as far as behavior goes, however we have a zero tolerance regarding violence.
Any observation of such prohibited actions should be immediately reported to a teacher, staff, or directly to the Founder ([email protected]).
All reported violations will be investigated and if found to violate the code of conduct, said person will be dismissed at the director’s discretion. If a student is involved, the parents will be notified. No refunds will be given.
Beacon Performing Arts, its Staff, or Volunteers cannot be expected to resolve or become party to personal conflicts between students/parents/guardians. Beacon Performing Arts may offer support for conflict resolution, but will not be held responsible in private disputes.
DRESS POLICY
It is very important that you/your child are dressed appropriately for classes, rehearsals and performances.
VIDEO/PHOTO RELEASE
By participating, you authorize Beacon Performing Arts, and those acting pursuant to its authority, to (1) Record you/ypur child’s participation and appearance on videotape, audiotape, film, photography, or any other medium; (2) Use you/your child’s name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical material in connection thereto; (3) Exhibit or distribute such material in whole or in part without restrictions or limitations for any publicity or promotional purpose which Beacon Performing Arts, and those acting in pursuant to its authority, deem appropriate.
DROP-OFF/PICK-UP
CELL PHONE/ELECTRONICS POLICY
Students are not allowed to use their phones/electronics during classes, rehearsals or performances. If a student is using an electronic device, the teacher will collect it and return it at the end of class. If you have an emergency, please call Beacon or one of the teachers.
THE THEATER
Students and adults are expected to treat our facility as their own. Clean up after yourself, throw your trash away, show respect to the building, costumes, props, set, etc.
THEATRE WITHOUT THE COMPROMISE
It is Beacon's policy to provide theatre without the compromise. We take this into consideration when choosing content for our classes and when choosing which shows we perform. If there is a show with more mature content, we will make the details publicly known so that parents can make the decision on whether or not their child participates or attends as an audience member.
If you/your child feels uncomfortable with a song, dance movement, stage direction, costume, or a situation they are asked to perform during a class/production rehearsal, please privately bring it to the attention of the Director so that we can make adjustments. It is the policy of Beacon to make everyone feel comfortable and not do something that the actor feels compromises their beliefs/standards.
It is Beacon's policy that anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted to kiss onstage. Anyone over the age of 18 can decide whether they feel comfortable with onstage contact. If they are comfortable with onstage contact, the other actor involved must agree as well. If only 1 actor is comfortable, then onstage contact will not be allowed. If an actor does not want to kiss another actor onstage, it will not prevent them from getting a role.
CLASSES
WITHDRAWAL/REFUNDS
A refund (minus the registration fee) will be issued if an actor drops the class more than 2 weeks prior to class starting. A minimum of 2 months of classes is required, and a 30 day notice is required to withdrawal from the semester. Withdrawal notices MUST be submitted in writing/e-mail ([email protected]). Phone calls, voicemails, or in person verbals are NOT proper withdrawal notices.
PERFORMACES
CASTING
Our creative team is experienced in placing actors in the roles they see fit. Experience, dedication, and maturity is taken into consideration. Roles are not negotiable, if you disagree with the placement, you may exit the production, however no refund will be given.
COMMUNICATION
It is your/your child’s responsibility to follow the Facebook page for the production and/or the Band App to be informed of important communication including rehearsal schedules, costume suggestions, etc. Please do not ask the volunteers/staff when the next rehearsal is, as it is posted for all to see. Any changes to the rehearsal will be made on the Facebook page or Band App. If you have any questions about which rehearsals involve you/your child, please ask it at the first meeting.
CONFLICTS
Please list all conflicts ahead of time on your audition form. We understand that emergencies may arise, and there is definitely grace in those cases. However, 2 unexcused conflicts (not resulting in sickness/emergencies) may result in removal from the production, no refunds given.
PARTICIPATION
Parents/Guardians are required to volunteer in the production that their child is cast in. A minimum of 1 night is required, and that parent/guardian will be permitted to watch the show when not volunteering. Anyone wishing to volunteer for a production that their child is not involved in may do so.
SCRIPTS
Any script that is damaged/not returned will incur a $45 script fee.
COSTUMES/MAKE-UP/HAIR
You may be required to provide your own costume pieces, such as shoes, socks, pants, top, wigs. It is you/your child’s responsibility to provide their own make-up and hair styling as directed by Beacon.
APPEARANCE CHANGES
After being cast in a show, it is against our policy that you make any changes to your appearance without the Director’s approval. This includes: tattoos, piercings, hair color/cut changes, as it may affect the look of the role you are portraying.
LIABILITY
By participating, you agree to the Release of Liability for yourself/your child (see Liability Relate Waiver)
AGREEMENT
By participating, you acknowledge that violations of the above could result in you/your child’s termination from class/productions, and any part of tuition or production fees will not be refunded.

- Disrespect to staff, volunteers, or venue
- Disruptive Behavior
- Physical contact with another person
- Public display of affection between non married people
- Harassment/Bullying
- Cyberbullying
- Sexual Harassment
- Weapons of any kind
- Disparaging remarks, criticizing, demeaning of Beacon Performing Arts/its staff/casting decisions/activities, in person/electronic communication/social media/or other public platforms.
- Any speech of sexual matters
- Talk/Action of alcohol, drugs, sexuality, violence, etc.
- Food, gum or drinks (other than water in a spill proof bottle) is allowed in classrooms/rehearsal space. (Food is only allowed in the lobby, but please clean up after yourself)

- 1st Violation: Verbal warning from Teacher/Director
- 2nd Violation: Verbal warning, dismissed from participation temporarily
- 3rd Violation: May be dismissed permanently and/or banned from future Beacon Performing Arts programs. No refunds given.

- If you wear a dress/skirt, leggings/shorts need to be underneath
- No midriff tops, halter tops, tube tops, sports bras, cleavage visible
- No offensive words/artwork
- Shorts at an appropriate length, covering body parts & undergarments.
- For dress rehearsals and performances: A leotard/tank top & shorts must be worn under your costume, covering all undergarments and body parts.
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
- No see through clothing

- Arrive on time! Classes and Rehearsals start promptly at the specified time. Unexcused, excessive tardiness may result in removal of program, with no refund.
- Please contact us if your child will be late.
- Children must remain inside until a parent picks them up. If your child leaves the building, Beacon Performing Arts is not responsible for their safety.
- Beacon is not responsible for who picks your child up. Please discuss with your child who they can and cannot leave the building with.
- Students are not allowed to go to the parking lot/their cars during class/rehearsals.
